Omantel warns users of new Whatsapp scam

Muscat: Scammers have found a new way to cheat people on the messaging platform WhatsApp, Omantel has warned users. According to the telecom provider, scammers are now using a service survey link that is supposedly from Omantel.
Users are asked questions in the first few steps, but towards the end they're asked for their credit card details on the promise of receiving a gift “to thank you for your loyalty”.
The statement put out by Omantel read, “A new scam method has been tracked, where the scammer impersonates Omantel and sends a service survey link. At first, the questions seem genuine but in the final step, the scammer asks for credit card details to pay for the shipping cost of the gifts. Please be aware and don’t follow such links."
