Oman, FAO sign agreement for new country programme framework

Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries signed an agreement with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations to cooperate with the Ministry and other public and private sectors to develop a new Country Programme Framework (CPF).
It represents operational steps for the preparation of strategies for the agricultural and fisheries sectors to enhance cooperation between the FAO and the Sultanate and contribute to programmes and projects to achieve national priorities and work with public and private partnerships, research centres, cooperative societies and others.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Fuad bin Jaafar Al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries and Norah Ourabeh Haddad FAO’s Representative in Oman. The CPF is in line with all national strategies including Oman Vision 2040, Tanfeedh, Rural Development Strategy 2040 and Fisheries Strategy 2040 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Work on CPF will begin in December. The main themes of the program will be Economic Competitiveness, Environmental Sustainability and Resilience, Rural Development and the Appropriate Institutional Environment.
