Majlis Al Shura focus on water security dialogue

Muscat: A reply of the Council of Ministers on the interest of Majlis Al Shura in holding a dialogue on ‘Water security in the Sultanate; challenges and alternatives’ was among the issues discussed by the Majlis Al Shura Office.

The discussion came in the 18th meeting of the third annual convening ( 2017-2018) of the 8th Term of Majlis Al Shura and the Majlis Al Shura Office held under the chair of Khalid bin Hilal Al Mawali, Chairman of Majlis Al Shura.

In its response, the Council of Ministers had welcomed holding of the session on the date set for it. The Office reviewed the reply of Dr. Fuad bin Jafar Al Sajwani, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries on regulating planting of grass in the governorates of South and North Al Batinah and Dhofar.

The reply of the Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries has covered the background of optimal utilisation of natural resources and the actions taken by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries .



The Majlis Al Shura Office also discussed the report of the Education and Research Committee on mathematics and science syllabus, the report of the Youth and Human Resources Committee on the proposal for establishment of the Centre for Measurement of the Pace of Achievement and Quality Assurance in government departments.

The Committee has supported the proposal provided that the said centre shall affiliate to the Council of Ministers and that the launch of the Centre shall coincide with the project for evaluation of job and institutional performance of the Ministry of Civil Service.

The Majlis Al Shura Office also discussed the reports of the international parliamentary organisations it has received.
