Cyclone Mekunu: Backup generators sent to rural Oman

Muscat: RAECO, the Sultanate's rural electricity company, has moved two mobile generators to the Wilayat of Al Jazir, to ensure that essential power services do not get disrupted as Cyclone Mekunu hits the region.
"RAECO continues shifting mobile generators to Wilayat Al Jazir, and with the second mobile generator, we have reached a capacity of 500 kw," the company said online.
RAECO also advised people with disabilities or illnesses who depended on life-saving machines to stay alive, to move to designated shelter areas that had been marked by the authorities. "To our esteemed partners, in the case of a person with special needs who depends on medical devices powered by electricity, we invite you to go to the places of accommodation announced by the concerned authorities in anticipation of power outages as a result of the impact of the current climate conditions," added RAECO.
The move comes after RAECO held a series of emergency meetings spearheaded by the executive chairman and CEO, both in Muscat and in the governorates of Dhofar and Wusta.
In case of emergency, RAECO can be contacted on 8007 7787.
