Consumer watchdog warns suppliers against exploiting the cyclone situation in Oman

Muscat: The General Authority for Consumer Protection warned all suppliers against exploiting the tropical cyclone situation by increasing prices or by carrying out any acts contrary to the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations.
The Directors of the Department of Consumer Protection in Dhofar, Al Wusta and Al Mazyona, also confirmed that the cadres of the commissions are prepared to deal with the cyclone. They also stated that the availability of all essential goods have been verified and all providers have assured them that they will not exploit this situation by increasing prices or by carrying out any acts contrary to the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations. The Director of the consumer watchdog in Dhofar also said that the Commission has formed field teams and a number of inspectors and control specialists are going to be available in the province.
The Commission added that its call centre is ready to receive round-the-clock communication on its toll-free numbers (80077997-80079009) and will take the necessary measures to ensure that offenders are dealt with in the right way.
