Shura Office holds discussions on progress of projects

Muscat: Majlis Al Shura Office held it 17th regular meeting of the third annual sitting (2017/2018) of the 8th term under the chair of Khalid bin Hilal Al Ma’awali, Chairman of Majlis A’Shura.
During the meeting, the Office reviewed the Council of Ministers’ letter on the annual reports for a number of ministries for 2017 which included a summary of the achievements made in 2017, the progress made in implementing the ministries’ projects, the key plans and strategies developed by them and statistics.
The Office reviewed a number of issues referred from the Government including some ministerial replies on a number of parliamentary questions by members of Majlis Al Shura.
The Office also looked into a number of incoming letters from the committees including the letter of the Services and Social Development Committee on the status of electricity sector.
The report included the measures taken by the committee to study the subject, such as hosting officials, discussing the themes, identifying the challenges and future vision for the electricity sector, as well as the recommendations in this regard. Majlis Al Shura Office reviewed some incoming letters, such as the circular of the Chairman of the Gulf Disability Society (GDS) on the recommendation of GDS 18th forum.
It included the letter of the editor in chief and supervisor of Al Roya Economic Forum on the recommendations of the 7th version of the Forum 2018.
The Office reviewed some external reports and letters by the organisations including the circular of the Arab Parliamentary Union on women representation at the Arab parliaments and the statement of the Chairman of the Arab Parliamentary Union condemning the celebration to mark Al Quds as capital of Israel at the 70th anniversary of Nakba Declaration, as well as the statement of the Arab Parliamentary Union on the 70th anniversary of Nakba Day 1948.
