Oman share index ends on negative note

Muscat: The MSM30 index started the week’s first trading session on a negative note and closed at 4590.16, down by 0.60 per cent. MSM Sharia index closed at 659.85 points, down by 0.36 per cent. Bank Dhofar was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. The top gainer of the day was Bank Nizwa, up by 1.16 per cent while Global Financial Investment, down by 5.66 per cent, was the top loser of the day.
A total number of 322 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR3.53 million with more than 17.39 million shares changing hands. Out of 31 traded stocks, 1 advanced, 20 declined and 10 remained unchanged. At the session close, Oman investors were net buyers for OMR148,000 followed by Foreign investors for OMR6,000 while GCC& Arab investors were net sellers for OMR154,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index fell by 0.36 per cent to close at 7184.61 points. Bank Nizwa was the only gainer in the sector and was up by 1.16 per cent to close at OMR0.087. Global Financial Investment, Al Sharqiya Investment, Muscat Finance and Bank Dhofar declined by 5.66 per cent, 2.44 per cent, 2.11 per cent and 1.66 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index ended Sunday's session at 6185.36 points, down by 0.96 per cent. Galfar Engineering, Jazeera Steel Products, Raysut Cement and National Aluminium fell by 3.67 per cent, 3.14 per cent, 2.81 per cent and 0.64 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index up by 0.33 per cent to close at 2,479.70 points. Oman Oil Marketing, OIFC, Al Jazeera Services and Omantel fell by 4.96 per cent, 2.56 per cent, 1.90 per cent and 1.60 per cent respectively.
