Two more liver transplants at Royal Hospital in Oman

Muscat: Royal Hospital has once again succeeded in carrying out liver transplants for two people who had cirrhosis of the liver, according to the Oman Ministry of Health.
Dr. Mohammed Rila performed the liver transplants assisted by Dr. Nadia Al Harthy, consultant for liver and digestive diseases, and Dr. Sulaiman Al Maamari, consultant, liver surgery.
One of the donors, Rawya Al Alawi, said: “My initiative to donate a portion of my liver to my sister is to put an end to her suffering of many years, and comes from my absolute belief in the ability of the Royal Hospital to perform liver transplantation with high skill.”
She added that the hospital had medical staff with high competence and that its liver transplant operations had a 100 per cent success rate.
Her sister and the recipient, Huda, praised the tireless efforts of the staff at Royal Hospital, saying, “Liver transplantation has ended my suffering of eight years. During this period, I experienced repeated deterioration in my health and physical activity.”
