Oman, China sign MoU for Silk Road initiative

Beijing: Oman and China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Silk Road Economic Belt (One Belt One Road Initiative), the 21st century Maritime Silk Road.
Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs met with Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, within the framework of his current official visit to China.
Bin Alawi conveyed greetings of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to President Xi Jinping of China. The Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs asked bin Alawi to convey the greetings and best wishes of the Chinese President to His Majesty the Sultan.
The two sides discussed means of enhancing bilateral relations as well as promoting cooperation in economic, trade and investment fields between the two countries.
Bin Alawi met with the Vice-President of the Central Bank of China, the Executive Director of the China Development Bank, China Banking Regulatory Commission and China Export and Credit Insurance Company. The two sides discussed means of financial and investment cooperation among the economic and financial institutions in both the countries.
The bilateral relations between the Sultanate and China are witnessing a rapid development in various fields. On May 25, 2018, the two countries will mark the 40th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relations between the Sultanate
and China.
The meetings were attended by Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), Abdul Salam Mohammed Al Murshidi, CEO of the State General Reserve Fund (SGRF), Tahir bin Salim Al Amri, Executive President of the CBO and Sheikh Abdullah bin Saleh Al Sa’adi, Ambassador of the Sultanate to China.
