Over 500 expats deported, 760 arrested in Oman

Muscat: Over 500 expats were deported from Oman, while 774 were found violating labour laws and a total of 764 labourers were arrested in three different cases, the Ministry of Manpower (MoM) announced.
MoM said that a total of 511 expats were deported from Oman.
Out of the 774 workers who violated labour laws, 643 were traders, 72 were domestic labourers, and 59 were farmers.
Information about labourers violating laws from May 6 to May 12, 2018, was published in the Ministry's weekly index; authorities said that Muscat followed by North Al Batinah were leading in the number of violators. The report read, "The highest number of violators based on Governorates came from Muscat with 449 workers, and North Batinah in second place with 106."
Meanwhile, 764 labourers were arrested in Oman. According to the report, "While 401 workers had left their jobs, 336 were working under a free visa and 27 were referred by other authorities."
