Drug cartel with global links busted in Oman

Muscat: The Department of Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances in North Batinah managed to arrest citizens on charges of possessing psychotropic substances to trade and abuse, in Al Khabourah.
"The suspects were seized with a quantity of heroin and 13 cannabis pills. The defendants were dealing with an international gang and were receiving drugs by sea," an official source at the Royal Oman Police said.
All the accused were referred to the judicial authorities to complete the investigation.
The law against Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances issued by Royal Decree No. 34/2015 is punishable by death or life imprisonment, and a fine of not less than OMR25,000 and not more than OMR50,000 for anyone who grows a drug, imports, produces or produces narcotic substances or psychotropic substances.
