Prosthetic limb production gets boost in Oman

Muscat: The orthopedic and industrial limbs department at the Khoula hospital was inaugurated on Wednesday, in the presence of Khalid bin Abdullah Al Misin, CEO of Oman LNG Development Corporation.

“The hospital now has also added 21 new equipment that will help raise the productivity of the department,” the Ministry of Health announced.

The objective of the project, according to officials, is to strengthen the industrial limbs section with 21 new equipment used for the manufacture of prosthesis and other orthopedic devices. This includes 12 new equipment that will be used for the first time in the section, replacing nine old ones. The cost of the equipment was OMR66,346.

Dr. Ali Al-Mashani, General Manager of Khula Hospital said: "New equipment will contribute in the rise of the productivity of the artificial limbs department in the hospital, thereby speeding up the process of manufacturing these parts and reducing the waiting period for patients to receive their equipment."
