Information minister meets board of Omani Journalists’ Association

Muscat: Dr. Abdul Munim bin Mansour Al Hasani, Minister of Information met in his office on Wednesday with the newly elected board members of the Omani Journalists’ Association (OJA), chaired by Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Araimi.
The meeting comes within the efforts made to ensure integration among the public stakeholders and civil society organisations to enhance their roles and help them make more achievements.
He congratulated the new board members for being elected to chair the Association in the forthcoming period and wished the board success in their endeavours to promote journalism, ensure effective communication and achieve utmost cooperation for the prosperity of our dear nation.
During the meeting, the Minister of Information reviewed the leading role played by the Ministry in supporting the journalism and media work at the different vital and developmental fields. He stressed the importance of developing journalism institutions and professionals and underscored the role to be played by the Association in the coming period as an umbrella for all journalists in the Sultanate.
During the meeting, he also touched on the efforts that should be made by the Association to support media work in the coming period and highlighted the key challenging facing the Association. He also discussed means of enhancing cooperation between the Society and the Ministry of Information.
On his part, the members of the board of directors expressed their thanks and gratitude to the role played by the Ministry in supporting the internal and external activities of the Association, as well as the activities it witnessed in many fields and fronts. They stressed the important partnership between the Association and the Ministry which aims at serving media sector.
