Sayyid Asa'ad meets Omani Special Olympic champions

Muscat: His Highness Sayyid Asa'ad bin Tariq Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan on Wednesday met at Oasis Club with the champions of the Special Olympics Oman (SOO) who made honourable achievements during their participation at the 9th Regional Special Olympics which was held in Abu Dhabi, UAE from March 14 to 24.
The meeting was attended by His Highness Sayyid Faisal bin Turki Al Said, Chairman of the Special Olympics Oman, Saif bin Mohammed Al Abri, Secretary General of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, Saif bin Ahmed Al Sawafi, Advisor at the office of the Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, and Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan in addition to a number of officials and representatives of the Special Olympics Oman, outperforming players and trainers.
Sayyid Asa'ad commended the honourable achievements made by the players who served as good ambassadors for their country.
He pointed out that such achievements prove that they can compete at the international forums and that there is nothing called 'impossible' when there is will and determination.
"You have the opportunity to make further achievements in the future and you will find every possible support by all relevant stakeholders and the Omani Special Olympic to help you achieve more results'.
On his part, Sayyid Faisal thanked Sayyid Asa'ad for hosting the Sultanate's champions and infinite support for this important category of the Omani society which will urge them to double their efforts to make further achievements.
Saif bin Mohammed Al Rabie, Deputy Chairman of the Special Olympics Oman made a presentation on the last participation at Abu Dhabi, as well as the medals achieved by the Omani champions.
It should be noted that Omani delegation to the Regional Special Olympics which was held in Abu Dhabi included 70 players in 13 games.
The Omani players achieved 9 gold, 16 sliver and 8 bronze medals.
