Over 3,000 Omanis called for job interviews

Muscat: The Ministry of Manpower (MoM) on Wednesday called 3,212 job-seekers for interviews, for employment in private sector establishments across the various governorates.
This is part of the government’s plan to provide 25,000 jobs to Omanis. A total of 24,945 Omanis have been employed in private sector institutions across Oman between December 2017 and April 23, according to statistics issued by the MoM on Tuesday. In October, the government had announced it would provide jobs to 25,000 Omani nationals by May-end.
The construction sector hired 32.4 per cent of the workers, followed by wholesale and retail trade with 14.5 per cent, manufacturing with 13.5 per cent, and transportation employed 7.1 per cent. According to the MoM data, 16,884 of those hired were men and 8,061 were women. Of them, 48 per cent held below diploma degrees, 34 per cent had diploma degrees and 18 per cent had higher education degrees.
