National obstacle race to be held in Muscat

Muscat: The second National Obstacle Series (NOS) race in Oman will be held at Muscat Hills resort on Friday.
The event will start at 4pm and go on till 10.30pm. The NOS race is the only inflatable obstacle series in Oman.
It is a 3km obstacle race for adults and a single km race for children.
Children pay OMR7.5 to take part, while adults pay OMR14. One can sign up for the race at nationalobstacleseries.com. The total prize money on offer is OMR1,000.
However, the amount will be divided among several prizes in various categories. It will also include music, a disc jockey (DJ), snacks, and other entertainment activities.
There are three kinds of races for many categories. Kids, aged six to 13, are in one category; teenagers, aged 14 to 17, in another; and those above 18 are in the adult category.
The organisers, Sabco Sports Oman, hope to attract families looking for fun, young people looking for physical activity, and corporations for team-building exercises.
Nick Cartwright, managing director Sabco Sports Oman, said he was optimistic about the race gaining popularity in Oman.
“This is our first year in Oman and our second event, in fact. We hope to organise several of these races during the cooler months. We also have plans to organise at least one race indoors during the peak summer. There are plans to take this to other cities such as Salalah and Sohar, as well,” he said.
Cartwright added that the race and the rest of the events were something the whole family could enjoy. “First of all, this event is fun. There’s something in it for the whole family.
People can come down and see that it’s really worthwhile,” he said. NOS’ last event hosted at Al Mouj saw close to 1,000 contestants.
