The Royal Opera House Muscat’s legendary 2017-18 season draws to a close with two stunning musical works – Peter Pan and On Gypsy Land. The exciting news is that ROHM’s new Season 2018-19 will be announced at a press conference on May 9, 2018 at the Royal Opera House. Season 2018-19 brings the excellence in programming that is a distinguishing hallmark of ROHM with richness in repertoire, depth in cultural diversity, and visionary creativity.

PETER PAN, THE MUSICAL
May 3 & 4, 7:30pm; May 5, 4:00pm
The Royal Opera House Muscat has chosen Peter Pan, one of the world’s best-loved musicals, in a fabulous new production directed by Maurizio Colombi as the star musical for the penultimate show of the current season. Action-packed and exciting, this is a show for people of all ages. Twenty performers animate a magical realm with special effects that include Peter Pan flying in the air with ease.
In this timeless tale, Peter Pan and his mischievous companion, the fairy, Tinkerbell, are chasing Peter’s shadow when they fly through an open window into the nursery of the Darling family where the children, Wendy, and her brothers Michael and John, wake up to a real dream. With a sprinkle of pixie dust, the children are taken across a starry sky on a fantastic journey that none of them will ever forget. They encounter a ticking crocodile, a fierce Indian tribe, a band of bungling pirates and the unforgettable arch villain, Captain Hook. With iconic songs such as I won’t grow up, The Rock of Captain Hook, The Fairy, and Viva la Mamma, the production has won prestigious awards including the Gassman and the Golden Ticket Agis.

ON THE LAND OF GYPSIES

The grand finale for ROHM’s Legendary 2017-18 Season is On the Land of Gypsies, a spectacular musical play composed, produced and directed by the renowned Rahbani Brothers, Ghadi and Marwan. Following its celebrated premiere at the Casino Du Liban Theatre in Lebanon, On the Land of Gypsies ran for a solid four months and is a hit in the region.
Starring Ghassan Saliba, Aline Lahoud, Paul Suleiman, and Pierre Chamoun, the play includes more than 70 actors, singers and dancers. When Silvado Hussein, a wealthy Lebanese expatriate returns from Brazil to Lebanon to build a villa for his fiancée on the property that he has recently inherited, he finds that his ancestral land has been taken over by a band of gypsies who have established an entrenched community. In accordance with Gypsy squatter rights, they have absolutely no intention of leaving. As the owner embarks on a quest to regain his land, something unexpected happens and Silvado is confronted with major cultural differences that clash with the dictates of his heart.
