Ministry of Information launches over 170 e-Services

Muscat: The Ministry of Information launched over 170 new e-Services at COMEX 2018 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC) on Monday.
These services come under the Injaaz platform (Injaaz.com) and were launched in the presence of His Highness Sayyid Dr. Fahd bin Al Julanda Al Said, Assistant Secretary General for Innovation Development at the Research Council, Minister of Information Dr. Abdulmonam Mansoor Al Hasani, and other officials attending the opening ceremony of COMEX 2018.
The platform includes different kinds of services. For instance, it includes 23 new e-Services meant for both individuals and organisations, in addition to 25 licencing services that were launched in 2017. It also includes services and user guides, laws and regulations users might need to know, and links to the most important websites relevant to e-Services.
Pact on smart city signed
On the sidelines of the exhibition’s activities, the Information Technology Authority (ITA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cisco International Limited to boost collaboration on projects concerning the Smart City. Dr. Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA, and Shukri Eid, Cisco Executive Sponsor, signed the MoU at the COMEX exhibition.
According to the MoU, a Smart City Project is to be implemented at Knowledge Oasis Oman (KOM), where Cisco will support ITA as a “technology partner” by conducting a session/workshop on smart cities, engaging Cisco to support in proposing a design and a blueprint for KOM Smart City and conducting a proof-of-concept (POC) for Cisco Connected Digital Platform for a period of six months.
According to the agreement, the ITA has to conduct a series of hackathons in 2018 under the theme of the fourth Industrial Revolution to communicate ITA’s future preparations & existing efforts, spreading a focused knowledge about industry-related technologies and discovering the market’s needs. Taking place alongside COMEX is the second edition of the Smart Cities and Industry 4.0 Summit. The conference will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.
