Muscat bourse trading activity remained muted

Muscat: Trading activity remained muted and the MSM30 Index ended at 4,756.03 points, down 0.11 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index declined 0.68 per cent to close at 658.15 points. Bank Nizwa was the most active in terms of while Oman Education & Training led in turnover. Dhofar Insurance remained the top gainer, up 20.00 per cent, while Al Izz Bank was the top loser, down 3.70 per cent.
A total number of 380 trades were executed on Monday, generating turnover of OMR1.10 million with 8.17 million shares changing hands. Out of 34 traded securities, 8 advanced, 15 declined and 11 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors switched to net buyers for OMR 29,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR 23,000 followed by foreign investors for OMR 6,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index ended at 7,284.77 points, down 0.02 per cent. Dhofar Insurance, Ominvest, HSBC Bank and Al Sharqia Investments advanced 20.00 per cent, 1.09 per cent, 0.95 per cent and 0.81 per cent respectively. Al Izz Bank, Gulf Investment Services, Al Madina Investments, Oman Qatar Insurance and Al Anwar Holding declined 3.70 per cent, 1.87 per cent, 1.85 per cent, 1.54 per cent and 0.66 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index had loss of 0.51 per cent to finish at 6,318.41 points. Gulf International Chemicals, Al Anwar Ceramics, Galfar Engineering and Oman Cement decreased 2.84 per cent, 2.54 per cent, 2.02 per cent and 1.11 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed at 2,554.31 points, up 0.06 per cent. National Gas, Sembcorp Salalah, Phoenix Power and Renaissance Services gained 1.51 per cent, 0.90 per cent, 0.73 per cent and 0.52 per cent respectively. Al Jazeera Services, Sohar Power, OIFC, Al Suwadi Power and Ooredoo declined 3.53 per cent, 0.85 per cent, 0.83 per cent, 0.75 per cent and 0.40 per cent respectively.
