Fake news: ROP denies special Muscat beach patrol rumours

Muscat: Royal Oman Police (ROP) has refuted claims that they will be assigning a special team to investigate claims of harassment and spitting at Seeb beach in the Sultanate's capital.
"There is no truth to the news circulating regarding the launch of a new investigation team on Al Seeb beach. The Royal Oman Police warns of the importance of receiving information the official source," ROP tweeted on Friday, along with a screenshot of the news being circulating.
Police added that security patrols take place regularly at the beach "and carry out their duties fully".
The fake news that had been circulated earlier claimed: "Note that investigation teams will be launched at the Seeb Beach after we have received reports (harassing girls, spitting, etc.) and those who will be arrested will be transferred to the police station, and necessary action will be taken against them."
