Jadavpur University Alumni Association Oman Chapter (JUAAOC) will mark their 13 years of presence in Oman through a musical programme called Sanskriti 2018.
Organised by Majan Events in association with JUAAO chapter, the event will be held on April 20 (tomorrow) at Al Falaj Hotel from 7pm onwards.
The evening will see a short performance by alumni members followed by a mesmerising performance of a fusion music band – ‘NAAD – The everlasting sound’. NAAD is an Indian fusion group initiated by Subrata Bhattacharyya, one of the leading tabla players of India. This group specialises in blending the evocative sounds of the eastern instruments with the stimulating notes of western instruments. They include instruments like flute, guitar, drums, keyboard, sitar, ghatam, darbuka, and kanjira. The sounds of Indian classical and Western classical, traditional and popular, fuse in one harmonious arrangement along with vocal.
NAAD performed in Congo Square Jazz Festival, Kolkata India Centre for the Performing Arts and also have to their credit numerous performances at some of the most prestigious venues in India and abroad.
