Oman’s share index ends on negative note

Muscat: The MSM30 Index ended the session on a negative note at 4,751.95 points, down 0.37 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index declined 0.44 per cent to end at 663.61 points. Gulf Investment Services was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat led in terms of turnover. The top gainer was Oman Education & Training, up 6.06 per cent, while Al Jazeera Services was the top loser, down 4.95 per cent.
A total number of 714 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating turnover of OMR 2.87 million with 16.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 33 traded securities, 6 advanced, 13 declined and 14 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR 391,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR 381,000 followed by Foreign investors for OMR 10,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index retreated 0.42 per cent to finish at 7,256.29 points. National Life and Ominvest advanced 1.19 per cent and 0.56 per cent respectively. Al Sharqia Investments, Bank Sohar, Al Madina Takaful, Bank Nizwa and HSBC Bank declined 2.38 per cent, 2.01 %, per cent 1.98 per cent, 1.14 per cent and 0.94 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index closed at 6,369.08 points, up 0.24 per cent. Oman Fisheries and Galfar Engineering gained 5.22 per cent and 1.00 per cent respectively. Al Anwar Ceramics, down 1.69 per cent, was the sole sector loser.
Services Index ended negatively at 2,564.77 points, down 0.34 per cent. Oman Education & Training and MCDE increased 6.06 per cent and 0.67 per cent respectively. Al Jazeera Services, National Gas, OIFC, Ooredoo and Omantel lost 4.95 per cent, 1.12 per cent, 0.83 per cent, 0.80 per cent and 0.45 per cent respectively.
