Muscat: A total of 27 violation notices were slapped against expat vendors and more than 3,000 kg of foodstuff including tobacco was destroyed by Muscat Municipality during March and April.

This occurred when the The Department of Market Regulation in Muscat Municipality carried out a number of inspections.

In a statement online, Muscat Municipality said, "The Department of Market Regulation in Muscat Municipality carried out a number of inspections during March and April. This resulted in the release of 27 violations against expats street vendors in Muttrah ِAl Kubra. Officials destroyed 990 kg of vegetables, 737 kg of fish, 1,196 packs of tobacco, and 462 kg of fruit.
