​Four degree rise in temperatures in Oman

Muscat: In the last week, the temperature has risen by four degrees Celsius, the highest temperature recorded in the Sultanate.
The Public Authority for Civil Aviation (PACA) announced the places that recorded the highest and lowest temperatures in the Sultanate on Sunday, April 1. The results showed that the hottest temperatures were nearly four degrees higher than last Monday.
On March 26, the highest temperature was in Sunaynah at 37.6 degrees Celsius, while the highest temperature on April 1 was 41.7 degrees Celsius in Liwa.
Bidiya was the next hottest at 41.2 degrees Celsius, with Sur and Qabil recording 40.8 and 40.7 degrees Celsius, respectively. Zamaim recorded 40.6 degrees Celsius followed by Bidbid that recorded 40.5 degrees Celsius.
On the other hand, the lowest temperatures were recorded in these regions: Saiq recorded 16.7 degrees Celsius, followed by Haima and Mhadha at 18.6 and 18.8 degrees Celsius, respectively. Sunaynah and Muqshin recorded 18.9 and 19.0 degrees Celsius each, while Bidiyah recorded 16.3 degrees Celsius.
The predicted temperatures for April 2 showed that Ibri, Faud and Haima will all reach a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius.
With temperatures rising, residents have begun feeling the heat. “I park my car a bit far from my building so that I can get a few minutes of exercise before going to work. It is getting harder to park my car there, now that the weather is getting hotter,” said Sabrina.
“I have started wearing gloves while driving and even putting on sunblock because it is getting really hot,” said Batool.
Ahmed, a golfer who is saddened by the end of winter, said: “I used to be able to play golf in the morning, but it is getting too warm for me to do that now.”
According to PACA, the weather forecast for today is “mainly clear skies over the Sultanate and partly cloudy over al-Wusta and Dhofar governorates.”
