Oman Tennis: OTA to launch Advance Tennis Camp

Muscat: In an attempt to enhance the quality of the players and the coaches, the Oman Tennis Association (OTA) will launch the Advanced Tennis Camp at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Sunday.
The five-day camp, which lasts till March 29, is a joint initiative between the Sultanate’s tennis governing body and the Versatility Business LCC and it will be conducted by the experts from the Swiss Tennis Academy.
According to OTA Executive Director Salman Al Balushi, the Advanced Tennis Camp is aimed at developing the junior players and improving the standard of the game the local coaches.
“The Advanced Tennis Camp will be conducted by a head coach from Europe and with support from Oman Tennis Association coaches,” he added.
The training programme will be attended by eight Omani players as well as five coaches, including those from the training centers at Majees and Bashayir clubs.
The players who have been chosen to participate in this programe are Muneer Al Rawahi, Ammar Al Khanjari, Abdullah Al Raisi, Marwan Al Khanjari, Isa Al Sulaimani, Mariam Al Balushi, Ali Al Busaidi and Safia Al Riyami.
The coaches who will benefit from the camp are Sulaiman Al Rawahi, Sarah Al Balushi, Saleh Al Zadjali, Hamad Al Harazi and Salem Al Badi.
According to Salman Al Balushi, the agreement between the OTA and private sector is first of its kind in Oman tennis and is aimed at training the players and the coaches.
“These kind of initiatives contribute significantly to the development of our players and trainers. The Swiss Tennis Academy is one of the most prominent academies in Europe and we hope that our players and coaches will benefit from the presence of experienced coaches,” he said.
