Muscat: The 21st Photography Week at the Sultan Qaboos University will wrap up today.
The photography week included a number of activities, such as workshops on photo journalism, professional mobile photography and a photo walk, apart from photographing children at the oncology department at the Royal Hospital.
"The theme for this year's photography week was "Eye of Beauty", and 45 photographers shot 62 photos, while five photos were shot by - Swarah photography team – the group from the Child Welfare Centre," photographer Reem Al Wahshi said.
"Each of us has an eye for different kinds of beauty. The photography week was full of activities supporting this message, including photographing the classic cars inside the exhibition. In an equipped studio, the photographer can control the subject from the angle of his choice, which he considers beautiful. The video section supported the studio’s message by presenting the story of the first video in history and the technical video that shows how ink spreads," Raya Al Numani, the head of the Photo Society Group in SQU said.
Apart from this, 95 contestants submitted 388 photos as part of a competition, out of which 65 were selected to be displayed at the annual exhibition.
"There was good audience interaction and a wide variety of guests, such as photographers, hobbyists, and students of photography groups from various other universities were present at the event. Apart from that, SQU and school students were also part of the event," Raya Al Numani added.
Hanan Al Assami won the first place for the "Souq" photo, while Arwa Al Thahli came second for the photo titled "Dreamy" and Sabiiha Al Khayari came in third for her photo titled “Waiting”. Amna Al Rahbi’s photo “We are blinded by money” and Al Mintasir Al Bimani’s photo “Towers” won an honourable mention.
