InterContinental Hotel in Muscat recently hosted a part of the French Week celebrations in Oman, for the first time in its premises. “We hosted the second day of French week at our hotel and this is the first time that we are celebrating it. The main idea was to bring a touch of France in the heart of Oman – Muscat,” said Thierry Perrot Regional General Manager – InterContinental Hotels Group Oman.
“Since I am from France as well, I hold a pride showcasing the culture, traditional food and dance of my country to the beautiful people of this amazingly multi-cultured country.”
The Palm Beach Club garden at InterContinental Hotel was beautifully decorated and lit with round tables that had delicate candle holders placed on top of it while French musicians and artists performed live to entertain the guests.

“This is the first time for me attending the French week since I moved to Muscat about four years ago, and of all the events that I have attended so far, this is one of my favourites,” shared Dawood Ibrahim, an architect based in Muscat.
“The ambience, decoration, food and music are absolutely amazing and entertaining.”
I am glad I listened to my friend and planned to join him at an evening full of fun,” added Ibrahim.
The chef for the evening especially flew in from France to prepare heartiest and delicious meals for all the attendees while giving them a true taste of authentic French cuisine. There was a huge variety of fresh breads and cheese including starters like authentic French Onion soup, piperade, pissaladiere, quiche Lorraine royal, soupe au pistou while bouillabaisse, coq au vin, blanquette de veau, casserole and gratin dauphinoise were served as main course dishes. Desserts included famous crème brulee, mousse chocolat, macaroons, and many more.
“It is a very lively and entertaining evening but the food is the winner for me tonight. I honestly haven’t had such delicious food in ages,” said Amélie Flerchinger, resident of Toulouse, France, based in Muscat.
“I wasn’t expecting the chef would be able to bring in all the flavours of France including the desserts that have been put up for us tonight. Big thanks and a round of applause to him and the organisers for hosting this event,” added Flerchinger.
“The main idea of hosting this event was to introduce the French cuisine and culture of France and create awareness among the people about it.
“Seeing such a response with a turnover of more than 200 guests has definitely marked another successful event that we have put together as a team in our hotel’s portfolio, and we intend to host it next year as well,” said Thierry Foehrenbach Director of Food and Beverage, InterContinental Muscat.
