Sezad signs Duqm water network expansion agreement

Muscat: The Special Economic Zone Authority at Duqm (Sezad) signed an agreement on Monday to expand the water network in the Special Economic Zone as part of Sezad’s plans to complete infrastructure projects and prepare it to attract investments.
Sezad Chair Yahya bin Said bin Abdullah Al Jabri signed the agreement with Ali bin Mubarak Al Matar, executive director of the implementing company, Al-Matar Trading and Contracting. The implementation of the project is expected to be within 548 days, with another 30 days set aside for preparations.
The project worth OMR2.3 million will aim to deliver portable water to several sites and invest in the construction of future Sezad projects, such as the zones for light industries, heavy industries, medium and light industries and a rock garden.
According to the agreement, two water tanks with a capacity of 500 m3, water pumping stations, and valve chambers will be built, along with the supply and installation of valves, connections to the existing water network, testing pipeline and accessories, and operation of the pipeline after construction. The length of pipelines under this agreement is some 17km.
