Muscat Duty Free to add 100 more brands at new terminal

Muscat: Muscat Duty Free (MDF) will have 100 new brands at the new Muscat International Airport to add to the existing 400.
The new brands will include Michael Kors, Burberry, Hugo Boss, Urban Decay, Hermès, Jo Malone, Glamglow, Valrhona and many more.
Travellers now can purchase local and international products priced competitively at MDF and collect them on arrival.
“We are creating a thoroughly engaging and visually stimulating shopping environment, which we believe even the seasoned traveller will find appealing,” said Dr. Khalfan Said Al Shueili, Chairman of MDF.
“The shop navigation is very intuitive with seamless access and integration between floor areas of different categories. Passengers don’t just get exceptional deals and exclusive products now. They can also enjoy a world-class shopping environment,” said Al Shueili, who is also the CEO of Oman Aviation Services S.A.O.C.
MDF has also announced an exciting offer for travellers, who can win an apartment in Sifa by automatically entering a lucky draw, which ends on July 31, after spending OMR25 at Muscat Duty Free.
“With our new identity, there are new activities and initiatives such as our Dream Home Promo, where one lucky winner in the next four months will win a free apartment in Sifa. It is an extension of our new brand identity where exciting prizes will be given to loyal customers,” announced Majid Mageni, MDF’s Marketing and Business Development Manager.
MDF has been catering to millions of travellers over the past 15 years, achieving significant growth in business volume, whilst surpassing the expectations of stakeholders. It is now also fully geared towards providing an even more exciting shopping experience at the new Muscat International Airport, while supporting the country’s tourism initiatives.
“It started with a retail space of 1,600 square meters comprising four outlets, which has since increased to 2,300 square meters comprising 10 outlets,” said MDF General Manager Martin Mullen.
“The duty free at the new Muscat airport has been designed with 18 outlets spread across approximately 6,500 square meters, an increase of 182 per cent, thus allowing a further opportunity to expand the product offering,” Mullen added.
MDF currently deals with over 200 local and international suppliers, some 25 per cent of which is sourced locally to support the domestic economy. The company has also undertaken keen initiatives to develop the local SME sector and in support of this initiative, has also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Public Authority for Craft Industries (PACI).
Moreover, MDF launched a new logo on March 15 at the Kempinski Hotel, to celebrate the new Muscat International Airport’s shopping area. The new logo, launched after 15 years, highlights Oman’s characteristics, including its varied topography, vegetation, climate and genuinely friendly people.
