Muscat: A business to business (B2B) meeting was organised at the Indian embassy on Wednesday.

The emphasis of the meeting was on facilitating an interaction between the Indian Building and Construction Sector and Omani enterprises.

Some Indian builders have already worked on projects in Oman and they expressed an interest in expanding their work, while for many others it was the first visit to the Sultanate.

The meeting was attended by chairman of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) Qais Mohammad bin Yusuf.

Speaking on the occasion, Indian ambassador to Oman Indra Mani Pandey said that the trade ties between the two countries had been hailed by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Both His Majesty the Sultan and PM Modi have committed themselves to trade between the two countries and even expanding it. So, we push on from here,” Pandey said.

The ambassador said that there was a great deal of enthusiasm in the Indian embassy as far as business ties were concerned, adding that they would continue to help expand India-Oman bilateral relationship in any way they could.

“India and Oman have a really great relationship. We have excellent connectivity by sea and air. But certainly, one can always improve on a good thing. There is a great scope for expansion of the business ties,” Pandey said.

Indian businesspersons were allowed to speak briefly at the podium and tell the audience about their interests. Many developers based in Bengaluru, Pune and Mumbai sought to take on projects in the Sultanate.

Other people involved in the real estate business in India were here to woo Indian expats in Oman who may have a mind to retire and settle in India. A representative from Pune-based Sky Developers said, “Oman is a fine place to look for Indians looking to retire from work and rent or buy in India”.
