More than 16,000 Omanis get private sector jobs

Muscat: The Ministry of Manpower pointed out that as a continuation of the efforts exerted by all governmental and private bodies to provide job opportunities for jobseekers as approved by the Council of Ministers, 16,504 citizens were appointed in private sector institutions in various governorates of the Sultanate from December 3, 2017 until March 12.
The ministry said in a statement that the number of males recruited was 11,121 jobseekers, while the number of females was 5,383 jobseekers.
The statement added that 8,186 of the recruited job seekers had a diploma less that the General Education Diploma, 5,520 with the General Education Diploma, 2,798 with higher education diploma or university degrees.
The statement added that the sectors of construction, wholesale, retail trade, and manufacturing industries witnessed the highest recruitment percentage.
It said 33.4 per cent were appointed in the construction sector, 14.5 per cent in the wholesale and retail trade sector and 13.7 percent in the manufacturing sector.
