Oman’s share index rebounds

Muscat: The MSM30 Index rebounded to close at 4,899.79 points, a gain of 0.50 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index ended at 693.00 points, up 0.27 per cent. Due to a special deal, Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Oman Cement was the top gainer, up 2.58 per cent, while Omantel was the day’s top loser, down 2.44 per cent.
A total number of 772 trades were executed on Tuesday, generating turnover of OMR11.97 million with 32.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 12 advanced, 12 declined and 19 remained unchanged. At the session close, Omani investors were net buyers for OMR5.22 million followed by Foreign investors for OMR38,000 while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR5.25 million worth of shares.
Financial Index advanced 0.69 per cent to close at 7,331.32 points. Ahli Bank, Ominvest, Al Anwar Holding, Bank Dhofar and Al Izz Bank gained 2.47 per cent, 2.04 per cent, 1.99 per cent, 1.90 per cent and 1.33 per cent respectively. Al Madina Investments, Bank Nizwa, Muscat Finance and Bank Muscat declined 1.79 per cent, 1.14 per cent, 0.91 per cent and 0.49 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index ended at 6,705.92 points, down 0.08 per cent. Oman Cement, Galfar Engineering and Oman Fisheries gained 2.58 per cent, 1.19 per cent and 0.75 per cent respectively. Al Maha Ceramics, Gulf International Chemicals, Al Jazeera Steel and Al Anwar Ceramics decreased 2.40 per cent, 1.68 per cent, 1.26 per cent and 0.80 per cent respectively.
Services Index closed on a flat note at 2,563.18 points, down 0.01 per cent. Ooredoo and Muscat Gases increased 2.58 per cent and 0.36 per cent respectively. Omantel, Oman National Engineering, OIFC and MCDE declined 2.44 per cent, 1.58 per cent, 1.49 per cent and 0.65 per cent respectively.
