Indian ambassador to inaugurate school in Saham on Friday

Muscat: The Indian community at Saham is jubilant about the commissioning of a new school as a result of their persistent efforts in the last two years. This will be the 20th Indian School under the governance of the Board of Directors.
The school will be inaugurated by Indra Mani Pandey, Ambassador of India to the Sultanate, on Friday, March 16, at 7pm, in the presence of Wilson V. George, Chairman; Dr C.M. Najeeb, Vice-Chairman; members of the Board of Directors; officials from the Ministry of Education; luminaries from the Indian community; and members of the Indian diaspora at Saham. George lauded the efforts of the Indian community at Saham, which has been working hard to generate finances and other resources for the upcoming school.
Najeeb thanked the management of the Indian School Muladha for extending support and overseeing the recruitment of staff for the school.
Principal and staff for the new school have already been appointed, required furniture and other infrastructure in in place, and the classrooms have been equipped with the latest educational amenities. The Indian School Saham is ready to welcome its first batch of students from the first week of April 2018.
“We are so happy that our children will get quality education at our doorstep,” a resident said. Another commented: “We used to be tense until our children returned home after travelling long distances from their school.
“Now, we have a school at a walking distance.
“We thank the Indian School Board for providing education at an affordable price.”
Initially, the Indian School Saham will have classes from Kindergarten to Class V.

More classes will be added to the school, subject to permission from the government and demand for admissions. The school office will start operating immediately after the official inauguration scheduled on March 16.

Children of other nationalities can also take admission to the school, if they don’t have a school of their own at Saham. All endeavours of the Indian educational system are directed towards producing knowledgeable and morally sound individuals, who can make a difference to the society they live in.
