​New weekend market for local products launched in Oman

Muscat: Starting from today, a weekly market for small and medium enterprises and families with home businesses will be organised in Atina Land park in Salalah, a first for the Dhofar governorate.

The "Weekend Market" will be organised every week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and includes 45 business entrepreneurs.

Hussain Al-Buthari, head of the Dhofar Chamber of Commerce and Industry said: "The weekend market project aims to encourage small and medium enterprises and productive families by presenting their varied products to visitors at the park.

"The launch of this market comes as a result of cooperation between the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) in Dhofar Governorate with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), and in coordination with the Public Authority for Small and Medium Enterprises (Riyada) to creating a stable base for entrepreneurs and home business owners."

The market aims to develop and promote home businesses and provide support for successful and innovative ideas, as well as to monitor products and business, and exchange ideas with others.

The exhibition also seeks to improve Omani products and develop them, and to open new marketing outlets for them.
