This hospital in Oman just got 10 new dialysis machines

Muscat: Now patients suffering from renal failure, in Dhofar Governorate, will not have to wait for long for dialysis, as 10 new machines have been added to the dialysis unit at the Salalah Sultan Qaboos Hospital.
With the new additions, the total number of dialysis machines go up to 31, where 27 devices are used for general cases and 5 are used for isolated ones.
The aim of the Ministry of Health is to provide better health services to people and to make treatments easier, in order to alleviate the suffering of patients. Officials from the Ministry said, "These new machines will contribute to reducing the suffering of patients and their families by decreasing the waiting period, as well by increasing access to services in the morning and evening, removing the need for dialysis late at night. The dialysis unit currently works 24 hours, 6 days every week. The new machines will be available from 7.30 am to 10 pm, and the new system will be launched on March 10, 2018."
A total of 197 patients in Dhofar Governorate undergo dialysis. While 159 patients come from Salalah, 17 come from Taqah, 6 patients come from Mirbat, while 4 come from Rakhyut and three patients belong to Mazyunah. The rest of the states have two patients each, however there are no patients from Maqshan state.
A dialysis unit at the Sultan Qaboos Hospital is the only one in Dhofar Governorate. Recently, the Ministry of Health signed agreements with a number of private sector companies to provide dialysis units in the governorate. The first agreement was with Raysut Cement Company to establish a dialysis unit at Taqah Hospital which will serve the eastern states of the province. PDO has also committed to building a dialysis unit within the expansion of the Thumrait Health Centre which will serve the northern states of the governorate.
