Key figures visit Oman pavilion at Berlin tourism fest

Berlin: Ahmed bin Nasser Al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism pointed out that the Sultanate’s participation in the five-day ITB Berlin (Internationale Tourismus-Borse Berlin) complements the promotion plan for the Omani tourism within Oman Tourism Strategy 2040.
He pointed out that there is a 40 per cent increase in the number of German tourists to the Sultanate between 2016 and 2017.
He noted that the world will review the unprecedented scientific experience and its outcomes through special screens at the Sultanate’s pavilion.
The show will display the importance of the Sultanate and its visit based on the scientific model which was built on the Sultanate’s lands.
The space scientists from the Austrian Space Forum selected Dhofar desert to simulate living on Mars.
The scientists acknowledged that this place is the only place in the world which is similar to Mars (The Red Planet).
During the first day, the Sultanate’s pavilion received a number of key figures, such as the mayor of Berlin and the official in charge of tourism in the German government.
He met with the Minister of Tourism in the presence of Lutha bint Sultan Al Mughairiyah, the Sultanate’s Ambassador in the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Sultanate’s pavilion, which stretches over 330 meters divided into two-storey at the main front of hall # 22 dedicated for the Arab countries, topped the exhibitors’ pavilions.
The ground floor includes the tourism information center and the screens that display the promotional films, as well as offices for 37 travel, tourism and hotel companies.
The upper storey includes a hall for official meetings and the Ministry’s representation Office in Berlin.
