Muscat: Prasanth Ganapathy’s superb 31-ball 65 not out led Mott MacDonald to an exciting five-run victory over Trust Oilfield Services in an Intermediate Cup Knockout game at Muscat Municipality Ground III in Al Amerat.
Invited to bat first, Mott MacDonald amassed 181 for seven in 20 overs thanks to Prasanth’s brilliant knock that included five huge sixes. Tawsif Tambe (47 off 36) and Javed Tanashah (27 off 28) also made valuable contributions.
For Trust Oildfield, Jineesh Scaria took two for 37.
In reply, Trust Oilfield made a valiant effort going after the big total but fell short by five runs, scoring 176 for six in 20 overs. Qamar Nazir (58 off 37), Shahid Mehmood (58 off 41) and Mohammed Riyaz (21 off 13) were the main scorers. Asim Abdul Qadeer bagged two wickets for Mott MacDonald.

Saravanan spurs Al Fairuz
In another Intermediate Cup match, Al Fairuz rode on Saravanan Manickam’s 87 off 53 to trounce Fahad Express by six wickets at Muscat Municipality Ground I.
Batting first, Fahad Express scored 165 for six in 20 overs thanks to fluent knocks by Syed Riyas Basha (38 not out off 32) and Sooraj Raj (31 off 27). Kamran Farooq and Zaheer Ahmed took two wickets each for Al Fairuz.
In reply, Al Fairuz overhauled the total in 16.3 overs, scoring 169 for four thanks to Saravanan’s match-winning effort. Ranjith Kumar played a little cameo, scoring an unbeaten 37 off 19 balls. Sherin Varghese bagged two wickets for Fahad Express.

Danmark down Unique Elegant

In a Junior Cup game, Danmark defeated Unique Elegant by four runs in a thrilling win at Muscat Municipality Ground IV.
Asked to bat first, Danmark posted 158 for seven on the board in 20 overs. Arsalan Sultan (56 off 35) and Junaid Iqbal (30 off 24) were the leading scorers.
For Unique Elegant, Irtaza Ahmed and Jaha Hussain took two wickets each.
Struggling at 64 for five in eight overs, Unique Elegant recovered well after the 58-run stand for the sixth wicket between Haja Hussain (33 off 31) and Robin Varghis (41 off 29).
However, things slowed down with their departure and Unique Elegant fell short by four runs, managing to score 154 for eight in 20 overs. Amit Sampat scored 29 off 23. Arsalan Sultan and Rajeesh Ravindran claimed two wickets each.

Mohammed Sarwar slammed a 41-ball 63 to steer Muscat Masters to an easy six-wicket win against Design Group Engineering Consultants in a Junior Cup game at Muscat Municipality Ground II.
Masters restricted Design Group to 138 for six in 20 overs and then chased the modest total down in 14.4 overs, scoring 139 for four.
