Democrats head to runoff in primary for Texas governor

Texas: Andrew White and Lupe Valdez, the two frontrunners are headed for a runoff in the Democratic primary for Texas governor.
Poll returns Tuesday, March 6, evening put Valdez at almost 43 per cent, 13 points ahead of White with 29 per cent of the votes. Neither candidate received over 50 per cent of the primary vote, so the race will go to a May 22 runoff.
White, speaking after the polls closed, said he was not afraid of competiton but he was afraid of Trump followers pushing their agenda.
Valdez, the former Dallas County sheriff, and White, the son of late Governor Mark White, are far ahead of the seven other Democrats vying to challenge incumbent, , who is seeking a second term.
