Muscat: The Dynamic Duqm initiative got underway on Saturday, with businesspersons from 18 sectors taking part and at least two agreements being inked.
The announcement was made on the Port of Duqm’s official Twitter handle.
The initiative seeks to provide a common forum for major companies, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and community representatives in Duqm and surrounding regions. It would also provide jobs and utilise skills of locals in the Wusta Governorate.
Dynamic Duqm is the brainchild of Maurizio Monte, founding director of Duqm Smart Business, which provides consultancy, rental, and marketing services to businesses looking to set up shop in the port city.
“The first Dynamic Duqm evening was a great success, bringing over 60 participants from 18 sectors and 13 different nationalities together for a most enjoyable evening in Duqm. Many thanks to the organiser, Maurizio Monte. Up to the next edition end of March!” a tweet from the Port of Duqm Twitter handle read.
Moreover, Al Tasneem, a provider of readymade mix concrete, inked an agreement with Duqm Industrial Land Company, allowing the former to set up its 10th plant in the Wusta Governorate.
“Duqm Industrial Land Company signed a sub-usufruct agreement with Al Tasneem Cement Products LLC, a leading supplier of ready-mix concrete in the country, for constructing its 10th ready-mix concrete plant to serve the Al Wusta region with concrete and precast products,” a tweet on the Port of Duqm handle read.
Another development of the evening was that Suhool Al Duqm Al Mutmyzh signed an agreement with Port of Duqm. This will allow them to set up a cold storage to store grains and other edibles, besides a warehouse.
“Port of Duqm signed a sub-usufruct agreement with Suhool Al Duqm Al Mutmyzh LLC in relation to constructing its temperature-controlled warehouse for foodstuff and an open yard for O&G equipment storage services in the Port of Duqm’s Logistics Zone,” the Port of Duqm handle’s tweet read.
