Bearish trend continues on Muscat bourse

Muscat: The MSM30 Index closed the session at 4,987.37 points, down by 0.26 per cent. The MSM Sharia Index declined by 0.19 per cent to close at 704.85 points. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Ahli Bank was the top gainer while Renaissance Services was the top loser, down by 6.06 per cent.
A total number of 833 trades were executed on Wednesday, generating a turnover of OMR1.86 million with 15.53 million shares changing hands. Out of 44 traded securities, 3 advanced, 15 declined and 26 remained unchanged. GCC and Arab investors remained net buyers of OMR51,250 followed by Omani investors for OMR269 while foreign investors were net sellers for OMR51,520 worth of shares.
Financial Index retreated 0.47 per cent to close at 7,355.62 points. Ahli Bank was the only gainer and was up by 3.11 per cent to close at OMR0.166. Al Sharqiya Investment, Bank Sohar, Bank Dhofar and Al Anwar Holding declined by 4.88 per cent, 2.56 per cent, 1.90 per cent and 1.88 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Index fell by 0.47 per cent to close at 6,823.68 points. Jazeera Steel Products was the only gainer in the sector and was up by 1.92 per cent to close at OMR0.318. National Aluminium, Oman Refreshment, Oman Cement and Al Anwar Ceramics declined by 4.13 per cent, 2.50 per cent, 0.99 per cent and 0.76 per cent, respectively.
Services Index declined by 0.76 per cent to close at 2,630.41 points. Ooredoo Oman was the only gainer and was up by 0.39 per cent to close at OMR0.514. Renaissance, National Gas, Jazeira Services and Muscat City Desalination declined by 6.06 per cent, 3.16 per cent, 1.80 per cent and 0.63 per cent, respectively.
