Beirut: The book “Building the Omani Empire and Extending Its Dominance in the Indian Ocean and Overseas” was recently published by Beirut Library for Publication and Distribution for the researcher Dr. Juma bin Khalifa bin Mansour Al Busaidi.
The book deals with the building of the Omani Empire and the extension of its sovereignty in the Indian Ocean and beyond the sea through the recalling of a set of historical facts. It informs the Arab reader in general and the Omani reader in particular, the vast Omani civilisation that the history proves its superiority, civilised progress and naval power at various military, commercial and scientific levels. The book contains four main parts.
The first part is entitled “Dominion of the Omani Empire”.
The second part touched on the role of Omani migrations in the establishment of the state in the African environment, “which focused on a number of points, most notably geographical location, the ancient Omani migrations in the East African coast and the Omani presence, foreign elites and tribes coming from Oman to East Africa.
The third part of the book talked about Omani sovereignty over its African environment and overseas and aspects related to the rule and security. The fourth part highlighted manifestations of the Omani sovereignty and their external relations.
It also focused on the relations of Oman in the era of Ya'ariba state, as well as domestic and international trade in the same era.
