Oman to take part in human rights meeting

Muscat: The Sultanate, represented by the Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC), is participating in the annual meeting of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions. It will also take part in the meeting of the Committee on Persons with Disabilities in Geneva City of Switzerland.
The Omani delegation is headed by Sheikh Abdullah bin Shuwain Al Hosni, Chairman of OHRC.
The meeting will be attended by the chairmen and representatives of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions and some international experts from NGOs. The meeting will discuss topics on the rights of migrant women, the exchange of information on the rights of elder persons, the role of national institutions and the strategic plan of the Global Alliance, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, UN Development Programme, as well as the rights of persons with disabilities and the role of national human rights institutions.
On the other hand, the Chairman of OHRC will meet on the sidelines of the meeting with a number of officials of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations within the framework of coordination and cooperation to serve the objectives and activities of OHRC.
OHRC Chairman is accompanied by Dr. Nasser bin Saif Al Shamsi, member of OHRC, Laila bint Abdullah Al Oufi, Director of International Organizations and Relations, and Salim bin Saif Al Shaili, Director of the Office of the Chairman of OHRC.
