Helicopter crash kills 13 in Mexico

Mexico: At least 13 people on the ground, including three children, were killed and 15 were injured when a Mexican military helicopter carrying top officials surveying damage from a powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake, crashed in a small town in the southern state of Oaxaca.
The chopper carrying Mexico's interior minister and the state governor, who were assessing the damage, landed on two vans in an open field.
The senior officials survived but now the small town of Jamiltepec is grieving. Eduardo Juarez Velazco, relative of one of the crash victims, said, "The entire town was without light, nothing. It was dark. We were happy up there. We were going to sleep up there, all of us, we were all going to be up there but look at what they did. The governor was supposedly coming to help but what was the help we received? This is the help they give us."
The quake left nearly a million homes and businesses without power in Mexico City and the south, while 50 homes were damaged in Oaxaca. Social media footage showed residents scrambling to evacuate and trembling lamp posts. While no deaths were reported in Saturday's quake, the state of Oaxaca and Mexico City are still reeling from earthquakes that killed at least 471 people in September 2017.
