Muscat: The opening of Taqah-Mirbat Road project in Oman is expected to enhance connectivity and contribute to the economic growth of the local area.

The scope of work involved the construction of a 36-km road linking Taqah to Mirbat in the governate of Dhofar.

The road also connects Salalah with the wilayats of Sadah, Kasik and Shuwaymiyah on Dhofar’s east coast.

Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, opened the dualisation of Taqah-Mirbat road.

The project was executed by Galfar Engineering and Contracting SAOG.

A spokesperson for Galfar said, “We are happy to announce the opening of Taqah-Mirbat Road which will benefit commuters and people living in the area. We thank the Ministry of Transport and Communications for their trust and awarding us the project.

"The road has been built to high-quality standards. The work involved dualisation of single carriage way starting from Madinat Al Haq roundabout to Mirbat roundabout on the road to Sadha.”
