OSA discusses Oman’s international participation

Muscat: After thoroughly studying the recommendations of various committees, the Oman Swimming Association (OSA) approved Oman’s participation in the forthcoming international swimming championships.
The board members of the OSA held their first meeting of the year on Wednesday to discuss the association’s programme of activities for 2018.
After the meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of OSA chief Taha bin Sulaiman Al Kishry, the association revealed the details of the progamme.
While discussing the plans for the first quarter of 2018, the OSA approved Oman’s participation in the International Swimming Championship to be organised in Algeria from May 2 to 6.
The recommendations also included participation in World Beach Games scheduled to be held in San Diego, the United States, in 2019 and the 8th Asian Open Water Swimming Championship to be held in Thailand from February 24 to 25.
Among other recommendations raised by the Teams and Coaches Committee were introduction of professional contracts for swimmers, finalisation of swimmer Issa Al Adawi’s enrollment in the Japanese university.
The meeting also discussed and approved measures to introduce swimming in sports clubs while agreeing to the appoint three swimming coaches for the purpose.
