National campaign for immunisation coverage rates to go on

Muscat: The Ministry of Health continues to implement the national campaign for immunisation coverage rates, which includes all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman. Field teams in the Dhofar Governorate conducted home visits to the various wilayats of the governorate to collect data by examining the immunisation card for the child and the mother.

Muhammad bin Saeed Al Shehri, Head of the Infectious Disease Control Department at the Directorate General of Health Services in Dhofar Governorate, explained that the national campaign for immunisation coverage rates began in Dhofar Governorate on February 20, targeting a sample of 1442 children between the ages of 7 months to 5 years.

He added that the number of field teams that conduct the survey are 14 teams, which collect data on mother and child immunisation through health cards to record the vaccinations specified by the Ministry of Health for them in the specified age period, as well as to raise health awareness among community members about the importance of vaccines and their role in preventing infectious diseases covered by immunisation.

He pointed out that the completion rate of the target number of the survey during the period from February 20 to March 1 this year amounted to more than 35 percent, and the campaign continues until March 20, and we call on all citizens and residents to cooperate with field teams to success this national campaign because of its positive impact in improving the health level of society.
