Muscat: Twenty-two people were injured in a major collision involving 44 vehicles in Abu Dhabi earlier today, the police officials announced online.

"22 people were injured in a collision involving 44 vehicles in Abu Dhabi, and 3 in Al Ain due to fog," a statement from Abu Dhabi Police said.

The collision occurred on the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, in the morning, due to low-visibility caused by heavy fog in the area.

A video recorded at the scene of the accident shows people fleeing the sight of the accident and the extent of damage caused. In another one, a truck can be seen ramming into a car on the main road.
