Shura panel reviews jobs for Omanis in water, power sectors

Muscat: Majlis Al Shura’s Youth and Human Resources Committee hosted yesterday the joint sectoral committee for Omanisation in the electricity and water sector and a number of stakeholders in the sector as part of the committee’s study on the follow-up of the analysis of the recruitment of the national workforce.
The meeting, chaired by Eng. Mohammed bin Salim Al Busaidi, Head of the committee, discussed the available and expected jobs opportunities in the electricity and water sectors, the Omanisation rate achieved in the sector in comparison to the Omanisation rate imposed by the government, the challenges facing the sector in the hiring of the national workforce, and the appropriate solutions and recommendations to deal with the challenges faced by the sector.
Eng. Ahmad bin Hamad Al Subhi, Head of the Joint Sectoral Committee for Omanisation in the Electricity and Water Sector submitted a presentation on the work of the committee, its strategy for the current period and Omanisation rates in government companies and private sector companies with long-term development and ownership contracts.
The participants of the Sectoral Committee proposed training graduates on the mechanisms of dealing with the various devices and equipment in this sector, as the study focuses on the theoretical aspect without going into the practical aspect which is important in the practice of work and its know-how.
For their part, the members of the committee stressed the need to activate the roles of all the joint sectoral committees for Omanisation in the light of the exceptional period that requires cooperation from all.
