Larsen & Toubro wins major contract in Oman

Muscat: India’s construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro said it has secured a major construction contract valued at Rs.4.3 billion ($67 million) for a residential project in Oman. The scope of the work includes structure, architectural finishes, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services and external development.
In fact, the Indian construction giant has won contracts worth Rs.22.75 billion across different business segments, which include the Oman project, according to a disclosure statement posted on Bombay Stock Exchange.
Among other deals, an EPC order has been secured from Bangalore Development Authority for executing Utility Development and Management for Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout on a design, build and operate (DBO) basis for its first package.
The scope of work includes 360 km of potable water supply, sewage collection and recycle water supply network and 85 km of precast utility ducts. In addition, five sewage treatment plants of combined capacity 22.5 million litres per day using the most advanced sewage treatment technology – MBR, have been proposed under the project.
Another EPC order has been secured from the Madhya Pradesh Jal Nigam Maryadit (MPJNM), Government of Madhya Pradesh, for providing water to the Seoni and Chappara Blocks of Seoni district. The scope includes supply and laying of pipelines, design and construction of intake pump houses, water treatment plant and various water storage structures including house service connections.
The group has also bagged major solar EPC orders worth Rs.5.90 billion. The NLC India Limited (formerly Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited) has awarded an order for setting up of a 100 megawatt grid interactive solar photovoltaic power project in Tamil Nadu. This is one of the largest solar orders the business has secured from a Navratna enterprise of the Government of India. The business has secured another order from SB Energy One Private Ltd., of SoftBank Group, for building a 100 megawatt solar photovoltaic power plant at Bhadla Phase III Solar Park in Rajasthan. Both these orders reflect the continued trust that L&T enjoys from leading government and private solar developers.
