Oman Avenues Mall concludes Mall Warriors Challenge Season 2

Muscat: After a highly successful launch edition of the Mall Warriors Challenge last year, Oman Avenues Mall has brought to a close an exciting ‘Season 2’ Mall Warriors Challenge in 2018, which ran from January 18 – 31.
Oman Avenues Mall invited individuals from all cultural backgrounds in Muscat and Oman to take part in a series of action-packed events and activities that were both physically challenging and fun.
Mall Warriors Challenge Season 2 was launched with the intention to promote the importance of fitness and health. With reports of an increasing number of health concerns like obesity, blood pressure and diabetes in Oman occurring due to poor lifestyle habits; the Mall Warriors Challenge sincerely aimed at encouraging the participants themselves, as well as the mall visitors and shoppers to become more aware of the substantial benefits of living a more healthy, active, and wellness-orientated lifestyle.
Headlining this year’s Mall Warriors Challenge was the mammoth 50-metre x 25-metre Inflatable Obstacle Course. Competitors first raced against the clock through combinations of indoor challenges, which were supported by Gold’s Gym, before heading outside to take on this main challenge – the Inflatable Obstacle Course – located in the outdoor parking area.
In addition to the Inflatable Obstacle Course, various indoor activities were set up within the mall, such as indoor football (managed by Pro 11 football academy), mini golf, a car pull challenge supported by Mini Cooper/BMW Oman, and a kids’ inflatable play area.
The safety of all contestants was taken into consideration by having on hand a fully-equipped ambulance manned by two professional paramedic staff – all courtesy of Al Raffah hospitals – to cater to any medical emergencies.
The Oman Automobile Association also set up a kids’ go-karting area wherein kids between the ages of 5 – 12 were offered free go-karting rides. This was the first ever time that the Oman Automobile Association participated with a mall. The Oman Automobile Association also promoted its products and services via a very impressive display kiosk within the mall atrium.
As a Mall Warriors Challenge bonus, Oman Avenues Mall hosted 150 motorcyclists from the Muscat Bikers Club, who were taking part in the Discover the Beauty of Oman 2018 tour, which comprised motorcycle riders from all over the Middle East region.
The campaign received an overwhelming response and participation rate from the community, and more than 5,000 participants enjoyed taking part in the activities over a two-week period. To entice participants to perform to the best of their ability, various awards were up for grabs. On completion of the campaign, winners of the Inflatable Obstacle Course challenge were given gold, silver and bronze medals during an awards evening held at the mall’s main atrium. Other winners were also awarded trophies and gift vouchers.
Moving forward, Oman Avenues Mall now plans to have an even bigger set of challenges for next year’s Mall Warriors Challenge, which has now become the mall’s annual property.
Commenting on Mall Warriors Challenge Season 2, Derick Michael, general manager, Oman Avenues Mall said, “We are very pleased with the growth in participation for the Mall Warriors Challenge Season 2, and we look forward to creating more of these health and fitness activities in time to come.”
